Purpose of this Guide

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Canada was established in 2008 to embark on a truth telling and reconciliation process in response to the legacy left by the residential school experience. The Commission released its 94 Calls to Action in 2015 that appealed for all members and entities of Canadian society to engage in reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Call to Action 57 calls upon all levels of government in Canada to educate public servants, including law enforcement and peace officers, on the history of Indigenous Peoples. This education has to address the legacy of residential schools, Indigenous rights, and the unique relationship between Canada and Indigenous Peoples.

Objet du présent guide

La Commission de vérité et réconciliation du Canada (CVR) a été créée en 2008 pour engager un processus de recherche de la vérité et de
réconciliation en réaction aux séquelles laissées par l’expérience des pensionnats. En 2015, la Commission a publié ses 94 appels à l’action qui
invitent tous les membres et entités de la société canadienne à s’engagerdans la réconciliation avec les peuples autochtones. L’appel à l’action no
57 demande à tous les ordres de gouvernement du Canada de sensibiliserles fonctionnaires à l’histoire des peuples autochtones, y compris les
agents d’application de la loi et les agents de la paix. Cette sensibilisationdoit évoquer les séquelles des pensionnats, les droits des Autochtones et
la relation unique entre le Canada et les peuples autochtones.

Free Veteran Family Virtual Summit 2024 
Friday January 26th and Saturday January 27th from 11am to 4:30pm

We have been asked to forward this to our veterans as it is geared directly to the RCMP, veterans and their families.
You must register ahead of time (see below) and it is free. It is a Federally funded initiative targeting Canadian Armed Forces personnel and RCMP personnel and their families. Many of the aspects discussed are relevant to other Law enforcement entities for example the OPP, OPPA.

You need to register ahead of time. Currently there are 400 registrations, as the speakers at this event targeting family wellness for Vets are top notch.
